Women’s empowerment is a concept that is often discussed yet frequently misunderstood—even by women themselves. Many believe that to empower themselves, they must serve and do good for others, sometimes at the expense of their own growth.
However, the essence of true empowerment is first and foremost about self-development—because only a woman who is empowered can create a real, lasting impact in her family, workplace, and society.
Women Were Created for Impact, Not Entitlement
From the very beginning, God created the woman as a helpmate—not as a passive being, but as a source of support, strength, and solutions. To help is to bring value, and to bring value, one must first develop oneself.
Yet, in today’s world, some women seem to overlook this fundamental truth, assuming that they were created simply to inherit or feel entitled to things they have not contributed to.
True empowerment is not about entitlement; it is about building capacity and becoming a force of transformation.
A woman’s very nature is to create impact, and without self-empowerment, there can be no impact. This raises an essential question that every woman should ask herself daily:
"How can I empower myself to create a meaningful impact in my marriage, job, family, and society?"
It is the failure to ask this question and the lack of understanding about their inherent purpose that has led some women to feel victimised or overlooked. But the truth is, no one will overlook a woman who creates impact—whether in a man's life or within the larger community. Society naturally values those who bring solutions, wisdom, and transformation.
Empowerment Eliminates Dependency
A woman’s role is not to be a beggar of urgent needs, waiting for someone else to provide or validate her existence. Instead, an empowered woman positions herself in a way that ensures she has access to what she needs without pleading for it.
When you invest in yourself, build skills, cultivate wisdom, and develop resilience, you attract opportunities and command respect naturally.
Many women focus on being heard when, in reality, true influence comes from being felt—from making a difference so profound that their presence is undeniable. If your actions, wisdom, and contributions speak for you, then you won’t need to raise your voice to be noticed.
A Challenge for Every Woman
As we celebrate Women’s Day today, I urge every woman to take a moment for self-reflection. Ask yourself,
- "Have I empowered myself enough to be impactful in my society, workplace, and home?"
- "Am I truly living as a woman of value, or am I merely existing?"
Until you take ownership of your growth and commit to doing what is necessary to become a woman of impact, you risk being just another woman—someone society treats as ordinary rather than a pillar of transformation.
