I recently had a chat with someone who has tried doing business in Africa but has not succeeded due to diverse reasons.
His impression was that business in Africa is tough, and he will never venture again into Africa.
On hearing him, I decided to talk things out clearly so as to understand whatever he faced by trying to do business in Africa.
After a brief discussion, I understood the challenges he had. I told him the following:
- Business is not only tough in Africa but everywhere, and even in his country there are business challenges too. It is not an African thing only.
- Challenges in business are normal everywhere, but those challenges should not make us back off our projects. I told him to give himself another chance and that this time he would gain some experience.
- I told him that if he has tried doing business in Africa without succeeding, then he should correct himself by trying again by doing something different.
You may be in the same situation as my guest. You may have tried doing business in Africa and have failed to the point where you are discouraged.
I want you to know that many are succeeding in Africa and doing great things.
Don’t allow your business failure to diminish your faith in Africa.
Africa is the continent of today and tomorrow.
Just make sure you work with the right people, and though the beginning might be tough, you will reap the rewards of your efforts.
